U.S. National Under-18 Team Rolls to 8-3 Win Over Colby College

WATERVILLE, Maine - Despite trailing 3-1 after one period, the U.S. National Under18 Team rattled off seven unanswered goals to record an 8-3 win over Colby College at the Bowdoin-Colby Face-Off Classic Sunday night.

Colby (1-2-0) led 2-0 just over five minutes into the first period when T.J. Kelley scored just 1:07 into the game on the power play, and Arthur Fritch notched a goal at the 5:40 mark.

David Warsofsky (Marshfield, Mass.) scored the first of his two goals on the night at 15:16 of the first period to put Team USA on the board.

Kelley scored again at the 17:01 mark for the Mules to make it a 3-1 game after the first period.

Nick Maricic (Alta Loma, Calif.) left the Team USA net after making seven saves in one period of action. Joe Cannata (Wakefield, Mass.) was between the pipes for the final 40 minutes of the game, and finished with 11 saves.

Jordan Schroeder (Lakeville, Minn.) and Danny Kristo (Eden Prairie, Minn.) each netted goals in the second period to tie the game 3-3 heading into the final stanza.

Team USA went ahead for good when Ryan Grimshaw (Rochester, N.Y.) notched a shorthanded goal at 4:37 of the third period. After goals by Nick Pryor (Woodbury, Minn.) and Patrick Gaul (Pittsburgh, Pa.) made it 6-3, Team USA received two more goals from Kristo and Warsofsky to pave the way for a five-goal victory.

For the game, Team USA filed a 36-21 shot advantage.

The U.S. National Under-18 Team (9-10-1-1) returns to the Eastern Seaboard next weekend for games against Yale University and the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Team USA challenges the Bulldogs at Ingalls Rink Saturday before taking on the Minutemen Sunday at the William D. Mullins Center. Both games are set to start at 7:30 p.m. ET.

NOTES: Danny Kristo (2g, 1a), David Warsofsky (2g), Patrick Gaul, Ryan Grimshaw (1g, 1a), Jordan Schroeder (1g, 1a), Robbie Czarnik (Washington, Mich.) (2a) and Vinny Saponari (Powder Springs, Ga.) (2a) each recorded multi-point performances ... Grimshaw's goal was the first shorty for the U.S. National Under-18 Team this season ...
