
Devils Sign Six Players

Newark, NJ - The New Jersey Devils today re-signed forwards Cam Janssen and Grant Marshall and defenseman Olivier Magnan, while signing defensemen Jean-Luc Grand-Pierre and Ian Moran, and forward Noah Clarke to new contracts. The announcement was made by Devils' CEO/President/General Manager Lou Lamoriello. As per club policy, no further terms were disclosed.
Janssen, 23, will be entering his third NHL season, and fourth season with the organization. The 6-0, 210-lb. right wing split 2006-07 between New Jersey and Lowell (AHL). Janssen saw action in 48 NHL games last season, recording his first career NHL goal, while posting a team-high 114 penalty minutes. He also had one assist and 29 penalty minutes in nine AHL appearances. Janssen made his pro debut with Albany (AHL) in 2004-05. He was New Jersey's sixth choice, and 117th overall selection in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. Born April 15, 1984 in St. Louis, MO, Janssen played his major junior hockey at Windsor and Guelph (OHL).
Marshall, 34, posted eight goals and 16 assists for 24 points and 31 penalty minutes in 59 games played with Lowell in 2006-07. The veteran of ten NHL seasons has career totals of 92 goals and 147 assists for 239 points in 700 games with Dallas, Columbus, and New Jersey. Marshall has spent the past three seasons with the Devils' organization, after being acquired from the Blue Jackets on March 10, 2003. The 6-1, 200 lb. forward was Toronto's second choice, and 23rd overall selection in the 1992 Entry Draft. Marshall was born June 9, 1973 in Mississauga, Ont.
Magnan, 21, spent his first season as a pro with both Trenton (ECHL) and Lowell, appearing in 69 contests overall. The 6-2, 200-lb. defenseman from Sherbrooke, Que. will attend his second NHL training camp in September. Magnan was New Jersey's sixth choice, 148th overall in the 2006 Entry Draft, after playing three-plus seasons with Rouyn-Noranda (QMJHL).
Grand-Pierre, 30, spent the past three seasons in Europe, most recently with Dusseldorf (Ger.). In 2006-07, the 6-3, 225-lb. defenseman recorded nine goals and 14 assists for 23 points and 63 penalty minutes in 44 games. Grand-Pierre's NHL career spanned five seasons from 1998-99 through 2003-04 with Buffalo, Columbus, Atlanta, and Washington. During that time, the native of Montreal, Que. posted seven goals and 13 assists for 20 points and 311 penalty minutes in 269 regular-season games played. Grand-Pierre was St. Louis' sixth choice, 179th overall in 1995.
Moran, 34, split the 2006-07 season between Anaheim, Portland (AHL), and Berlin (Ger.). The 6-0, 205-lb. defenseman's 13 NHL seasons include 21 goals and 50 assists for 71 points and 321 penalty minutes in 489 games with Pittsburgh, Boston, and Anaheim. Moran was born August 24, 1972 in Cleveland, OH. He was Pittsburgh's fifth choice, and 107th overall selection in the 1990 Entry Draft. Moran played two seasons at Boston College prior to his pro career.
Clarke, 27, completed his fourth professional season in 2006-07, all with the Kings' organization. The La Verne, CA-born left wing has split three of the last four seasons between Los Angeles and Manchester (AHL). The 5-9, 190-lb. Clarke played four seasons at Colorado College, 1999-03, leading the WCHA with 49 assists as a senior. He was Los Angeles' tenth choice, 250th overall in 1999.
