Kalish Named Player Of The WeekJuly 16, 2007 - New York-Penn League (NYPL) - Lowell Spinners
Kalish, Lowell's leadoff hitter and centerfielder, was 12-for-15 (.800) with three doubles and two home runs last week, giving him a 1.533 slugging percentage with five RBI and six runs scored over that span.
Kalish collected three hits in all four games this week, a Spinners record. He also reached base in 11 consecutive plate appearances this week (July 12-14), tying a Spinners franchise record set by Spinner Jay Johnson in 2005.
The last Spinner to be selected as Player of the Week was outfielder Zach Daeges for the week beginning July 24, 2006. Lowell outfielder Bubba Bell was honored with the award the previous week and first baseman Aaron Bates was honored during the first week of last July.
Kalish is the current league leader with 18 stolen bases and 27 runs scored. His .372 batting average is fifth-best in the New York-Penn League, and his .476 on-base percentage is fourth overall.
In July, he's hitting .477 with three homeruns, eight stolen bases, and a .549 on-base percentage.
