Memphis Xplorers News Release
SOUTHAVEN, MS - The Memphis Xplorers of the af2 have been assigned another pass rushing specialist by the league office. OL/DL Mark Weivoda (why VOE dah) was an All-Big- Sky selection at Idaho State. The 6-foot-2, 295 pound native of Caldwell, Idaho was in camp with the Xplorers last season, but suffered a torn bicep and missed the entire campaign.
"We are excited to have Mark back after being in camp with us last season," Xplorers Head Coach Danton Barto said. "I believe that our pass rush would have been absolutely ridiculous last season if Mark had been able to play. He was easily our second best pass rusher behind af2 Lineman of the Year Khreem Smith. His ability to push the pocket in the middle was something we missed last season."
During his four years at Idaho, Weivoda had 16 career sacks, 24 tackles for loss and 9 blocked kicks. In 2004, he was in training camp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL.
Xplorers assignments to date:
Jordan Brumbaugh OL/DL 6-4 262 Tuskegee University
Steven Rush WR/KR 5-10 205 Southwest Missouri State
Maurice Troutman OL/DL 6-3 264 Arkansas-Pine Bluff
Mark Weivoda OL/DL 6-2 295 Idaho State
