
SteelHounds Sign Kelly Sickavish

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO -Youngstown SteelHounds Head Coach, Jean Laforest, announced today that the team has signed defenseman Kelly Sickavish (suh-KAV-ish) to a contract.
Sickavish, 27, played his rookie season last year with the Wichita Thunder of the Central Hockey League (CHL). In 47 games, the North Vancouver, British Columbia native recorded four assists with 83 penalty minutes. Sickavish dressed in 10 playoff games for the Thunder notching 20 penalty minutes.
The defenseman was selected by the SteelHounds in the CHL's expansion draft held on June 4, 2005. Sickavish joins defenseman Kris Mallette as players taken in the draft that have since signed with Youngstown.
The 6-3, 215-pound blueliner spent four seasons (1999-2003) with the University of Massachusetts at Amherst (NCAA) where he finished his collegiate career with eight points (1-7 - 8) and 92 penalty minutes in 107 career games.
