Collins re-signs with Blues' top affiliate

Peoria, IL (July 13, 2005) - General Manager of Hockey Operations Kevin McDonald of the Peoria Rivermen, proud new primary affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, related today that center Brian Collins has signed a contract with the Rivermen. Terms of the contract were not disclosed, per team policy.

Collins, 24, enters his third professional season in 2005-06, having appeared in both the ECHL and the AHL. In the 75 total ECHL games in which he played for the Pee Dee Pride and the Johnstown Chiefs last year, Collins scored 56 points (26 goals, 30 assists) and registered 46 penalty minutes. He then finished 2004-05 in the AHL after signing a player try-out contract with the Worcester IceCats. In five games as an IceCat, Collins recorded 1 assist and 2 penalty minutes.

Before making his professional debut, the native of Shrewsbury, Mass., played four seasons at Boston University (BU). Collins' best college season came in 2000-01, when he notched 30 points (14 goals, 16 assists) in 37 games. In 159 career games at BU, Collins accumulated 99 points (50 goals, 49 assists) and 106 penalty minutes.

The Rivermen are a proud new member of the AHL. Founded in 1936, the AHL now serves as the primary development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams and will celebrate its 70th anniversary season in 2005-06.
