Foothills resident wins 'season tickets for life'

(Yuma, AZ) – The Yuma Scorpions announced today that the first of their three special ‘Nugget Bobblehead Promotion' winners has come forward to claim his prize. By virtue of being among the first 150 to purchase Scorpions' Season Tickets during the month of February, Foothills resident Rick Surian has won Scorpions' Season Tickets for life.

Surian didn't officially discover that he was a winner until today-even though he had purchased his lone season ticket way back in late February. Surian was one of 150 that were given a limited-edition bobblehead of ‘Nugget', the golden retriever mascot of the Golden Baseball League, when he purchased a 2005 season seat. Two of the 150 bobbleheads had stickers inside the bobblehead box that awarded the recipient ‘season tickets for life' to Scorpions' home games. A third bobblehead-in place of the GBL baseball that ‘Nugget' would normally be holding-has ‘Nugget' holding an authentic gold nugget that's valued at over $500. Surian-the Regional Manager for Westwind RV Park and Golf Resort in the Foothills-actually received his bobblehead on the same day that he came into the Scorpions' offices to purchase his seat, but let the box sit untouched until today. "I didn't really think so," said Surian-when asked if he thought he'd be one of the three winners when he bought his seat. "In fact, I hadn't even opened the box until today. I saw the sticker, but I really wasn't sure whether or not that was unique, or if it was in all of the season ticket holders' boxes." Surian-who has purchased season tickets to Yuma professional baseball teams in the past-finally decided to call the Scorpions' offices this morning to ask what the sticker meant. "I'm still sort of stunned," remarked Surian after hearing the news of his good fortune. "It feels really good. I'm looking forward to this season even more than I was already." Surian's two ‘season tickets for life' will kick in for the 2006 Scorpions' season... and beyond.

The Scorpions are still in search of the remaining ‘season tickets for life' winner and the ‘gold nugget' winner. Those that purchased season tickets during the ‘Nugget Bobblehead' promotion-but haven't yet claimed their bobblehead-are urged to call (928) 257-4700 as soon as possible, or stop by the Scorpions' offices at 1280 Desert Sun Drive (right behind the centerfield wall at Desert Sun Stadium in Yuma) to see if they're a winner.
