D.C. United Re-signs Brandon Prideaux

WASHINGTON, D.C. (January 7, 2005) - D.C. United announced today that the club has re- signed defender Brandon Prideaux. Per League and team policy, the terms of the deal were not disclosed. The six-year Major League Soccer veteran was acquired by United on January 11, 2002 from the Kansas City Wizards in exchange for Stephen Armstrong.

"We are pleased to have reached an agreement that will keep Brandon at D.C. United," said United Technical Director Dave Kasper. "Since his arrival in 2002, Brandon has been a key contributor to our team's success and we look for him to make significant contributions for us in the future."

In his three-year stint in Washington, Prideaux has proven to be a steadfast performer, playing 6,433 minutes for the Black-and-Red in 78 League matches (69 starts). He is one of only five active players in MLS to have played over 12,000 minutes without a single red card and has logged more than 2,000 minutes in four consecutive seasons from 2000-2003.

In 23 appearances (16 starts) with the MLS Cup Champions last season, Prideaux, 28, played 1,458 minutes. In 2003, he logged more minutes of playing time (2,586), appeared in more matches (28) and started more games (27) than any other player on the roster. In his first season with D.C United, the University of Washington product started and played every minute of United's first 23 League contests, finishing the campaign with 27 appearances (26 starts) and 2,389 minutes, both second on the team to only goalkeeper Nick Rimando.
