Steelheads finalize opening roster

Gary Steelheads News Release
Gary, IN: The Gary Steelheads open their 5th season of play with high expectations and familiar faces. Five players return from last season's 27-21 team that qualified for the playoffs. New faces and experienced veterans make up the rest of the roster that Head Coach Duane Ticknor deemed, "one of the best that I have had in my professional coaching career."
Returning to the Steelheads this season is Steelheads All-Time leader in five major statistical categories, Jemeil Rich. Shelly Clark and Jarrod Gee will be manning the middle again for Gary. Sharpshooter David Graves and super sub Ray Young round out the returnees from last season.
New faces for the Steelheads include big man Kevin Simmons, a former CBA All-Star, and hometown resident Lonnie Jones. Free agent camp invitee Renaldo Major persevered and made the Steelheads roster, and will be the only rookie on the opening night roster. Jimmie "Snap" Hunter rounds out the new faces on the roster. Hunter was an All-Star last season for the Rockford Lightning and will be looked on to add an additional scoring punch from the outside.
"I am real excited about this team," said Steelheads Head Coach Duane Ticknor. "We have an outstanding group of veterans and experienced players going into the season opener with Rockford. It always helps when you have five players return from last years playoff team, but when you add two former all-stars to the mix it makes things very interesting. I am ready for the season to get started."
