Spokane Chiefs News Release

The Chiefs will host back-to-back home games this weekend with the Portland Winter Hawks coming in on Friday and the Kamloops Blazers on Saturday.

Friday night, the Chiefs and Oldies 101.1 are proud to present Karaoke Night. Beginning when the gates open at 6pm, fans can sign-up for a chance to dazzle us with their vocal styling before the game, as well as during the first intermission. Two finalists will then win a chance to serenade the Chiefs crowd during the second intermission for a great prize pack from the Chiefs and Oldies 101.1, including the chance to sing the National Anthem before a Chiefs game. All of this fun with Karaoke is being brought to you by Oldies 101.1.

Saturday night the Kids will be running the show at the Arena! From the PA announcer to the Goal Gong operator, from the National Anthem singers to the Radio broadcaster, several lucky young fans will have a chance to help run the “show” on Kids Night with the Chiefs. Also, immediately following the game, all fans will have the opportunity to Skate with the Chiefs on their home ice.

Michael Grabner, the Chiefs first round selection in this summer’s Import Draft, is expected to make his regular season debut this weekend after recovering from a broken collarbone suffered in the Chiefs first exhibition game of the year. Last season Grabner scored 59 goals in 44 games for his hometown junior team in Villach, Austria. The Chiefs used their 22nd pick in the CHL Import Draft to nab Grabner.

Spokane is 3-1 this season at home and are coming of their first road win of the season, a 9-5 victory at Tri-City on Saturday night. Nine different players scored goals, including Jason Lynch and Mike Reich, their first career goals. Ned Lukacevic recorded four assists in his first career four-point game.

Spokane’s leading scorer, Chad Klassen, has six goals and 14 points this season, good for seventh in the WHL. The 19-year-old has four goals, eight assists and 12 points in his last five games.

Tickets for all Chiefs home games are available at the Chiefs office at (509) 535-PUCK or TicketsWest at (800) 325-SEAT.
