Minot team moves to Utah
May 5, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Indianapolis, IN. Joe Newman, ABA Co-Founder, today announced that the expansion team originally scheduled to play in Minot City, ND has been moved to Utah at the request of the league.
According to Newman, "We were very pleased with the reception we received in Minot City; it is a great basketball city. However, as our expansion developed, it became apparent that it would be difficult for our divisional lineup and travel schedule to play this season in Minot City. Recognizing these problems, Timmy Gibbs, team CEO, was kind enough to move. And for that, the league is very appreciative."
Newman added, "Our goal will be to develop additional teams in the northwest and in Canada so that Minot City will one day be an ABA expansion city. And we know it can be a very successful one."
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
