COLUMBUS, OH - As preparations continue for this Sunday's meeting with the Orlando Predators, the Arena Football League's Columbus Destroyers have signed offensive/defensive lineman Matt Anderle to the active roster and signed veteran quarterback Jay McDonagh to the practice squad.

Anderle (6-6, 320, Minnesota) joins the Destroyers after most recently playing for the Scottish Claymores of NFL Europe. Anderle was a sixth round selection of the San Diego Chargers in the 2002 NFL Draft, spending most of the season on the team's practice squad. He also spent time with the St. Louis Rams and Houston Texans before entering NFL Europe.

McDonagh (6-2, 200, Western Michigan) spent the past two seasons as a member of the New Jersey/Las Vegas Gladiators where he completed 578-of-1,523 passes for 6,392 yards and 107 touchdowns in 30 games played. The 2002 season was his best in the AFL when he completed 334-of-536 passes for 3,599 yards and 62 touchdowns, leading the Gladiators to the AFL playoffs. He began his AFL career with the Buffalo Destroyers in 1999.

McDonagh began his professional career in Italy where he quarterbacked the Bologna Phoenix to the Italian National Championship in 1997. He was also voted as league and team MVP. Following his stint in Italy, McDonagh spent time in the IFL before spending the 2001 season quarterbacking the Quad City Steamwheelers of arenafootball2, leading his team to their second Arena Cup victory.

In other personnel moves, the Destroyers have waived offensive/defensive lineman Tyronn Johnson and wide receiver/defensive back Demont Smith, placed defensive specialist Chris Angel and fullback/linebacker Ricky Wood on injured reserve and activated wide receiver/linebacker Titcus Pettigrew from injured reserve.
