Hamilton Tiger-Cats News Release
Hamilton, Ontario - The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that after a long search for the Ticats new play-by-play announcer, CHML Sports Director Rick Zamperin has been brought on as the new voice of the Tiger-Cats.
"It's an honour and a privilege to be associated with the marquee team in the Canadian Football League," said Zamperin. "After growing up as a fan of the CFL, I quickly came to realize that the Tiger-Cats were number one in my heart after moving to Hamilton. I look forward to working with Coach Sal, along with the Ticats coaches, players and staff."
Zamperin, who has worked at CHML since 2000 and has served as the Ticats pre-game show host and sideline reporter for the past six years, assumes the role after former play-by-play announcer Tim Micallef resigned from the position on March 30, 2007.
"We are truly excited to have Rick join our team," said president Scott Mitchell. "His knowledge of our city, our team and the CFL game will bring a new level of excitement and personality to the play-by-play position. He has built strong relationships with the coaches, players and staff and we all look forward to working with him this year and in the seasons to come."
Zamperin is currently the voice of morning sports on AM 900 CHML and Y108. His debut as the new voice of the Tiger-Cats will be made live on AM 900 CHML on Thursday, June 14th @ Canad Inns Stadium when the Ticats travel to Winnipeg to take on the Blue Bombers. The action gets underway at 8:00 PM EST.
