York Revolution FANFEST coming August 5th
July 12, 2006 - Atlantic League (AtL)
York Revolution News Release
With the announcement of the team name and the start of demolition at the ballpark site last week, minor league baseball is back in York - and the excitement will continue with the York Revolution FREE FANFEST event on Saturday, August 5 at the Toyota Arena at the York Expo Center, located on the York Fairgrounds. The event will go from Noon - 5 p.m.
The event will feature a special appearance and autograph session with Orioles Hall of Famer Brooks Robinson and other former Major Leaguers. Brooks will sign autographs during a pair of one-hour sessions and will also participate in a fan forum, in which fans can ask questions to, and interact with, the Orioles legend. Other former major leaguers scheduled to appear include Tippy Martinez, Dave Johnson, Al Bumbry, Joe Orsulak and Ron Hansen.
"This is our 'coming out party' as baseball returns to York, and I am personally looking forward to meeting as many fans as possible," said Brooks Robinson, on behalf of the Revolution. "FANFEST will give guests a true sense of what they can expect to see, hear and smell at this great, new ballpark. This is a unique family event and will be the start of something special as baseball returns to the place where my professional career began."
The event will give fans a taste of the complete minor league baseball experience that can be expected when the York Revolution begins play at the York Outdoor Recreation Complex next spring. Hilarious ballpark performers and mascots such as the Zooperstars, Reggy and Krazy George are scheduled to be on hand, and fans of all ages can also enjoy clowns, balloon artists, face painters, caricaturists, stilt walkers, live music and of course - great ballpark food! There are also scheduled to be inflatables, a rock climbing wall and other games, including the Orioles Indoor Wiffleball Field, which will host baseball clinics with former Major Leaguers.
The former Major Leaguers will participate in free autograph sessions and fan forums throughout the five-hour event. There will also be a fan forum with project leaders who are working on the new ballpark and recreation complex. Drawings will also be held to determine the winners of the "Name York's Team" contest, in which the grand prize will be two lifetime season tickets for the York Revolution.
