
Xtreme set to face Marion Blue Racers in opener

The Kentucky Xtreme of the Continental Indoor Football League wrapped up training camp last week and final cuts have been made to get the active roster down to 25 players and the gameday roster to the required 21 players.
The Xtreme, who finished 7-4 and earned a berth in the CIFL playoffs in 2013, now have their sights on the Sunday afternoon opener at Marion, Ohio. They will face a Blue Racers team that finished 2-8 in 2013, but looks to be much improved for the new season.
The Xtreme roster features a deep offensive team that includes twin-tower receivers Mario Urrutia (6-6, 230 pounds, University of Louisville) and Josh Chichester (6-8, 240 pounds, U of L), as well as returning speedster Sergio Spencer (5-10, 185 pounds, U of L). The Xtreme also will have a one-two punch in the backfield, as punishing runners Maurice Grinter (6-3, 260 pounds, University of Kentucky) and Tony Maddox (5-9, 220 pounds, Kentucky State University), return from the inaugural team.
Quarterback duties will be shared by Jerimy Watson (6-4, 260 pounds, Kentucky State) and Kevin Warner, (6-2, 210 pounds, Kentucky State). The offensive line will be anchored by returning Anthony Richardson (6-2, 350 pounds, Kentucky State). New additions include linemen Aaron Wise (5-10, 275 pounds), Matt Nally (6-5, 310 pounds, Kentucky State) and Tyrell Henderson (6-2, 260 pounds, Kentucky State). On the defensive side of the ball, the Xtreme will be led by tackle Micheal Sowell (6-2, 330 pounds), who led the CIFL in sacks last season.
Also returning are defensive end Dustin Noe (6-2, 250 pounds, Tusculum College), linebackers Charles Ricketts (5-11, 230 pounds, Thomas More College) and Richard Raglin (6-2, 212 pounds, U of L), safety Ta'Shawn McBroom (5-10, 185 pounds, Georgetown College) and cornerback D.A. Griffin (5-11, 200 pounds, University of Memphis). New additions to the defense include linemen Rodrick Davis (6-3, 250 pounds, Kentucky State) and Elisee Pompilus (6-3, 265 pounds, U of L).
On Friday, Feb. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m., the Xtreme will hold a free meet and greet for fans at the Sports and Social Club at Fourth Street Live in downtown Louisville. Players, coaches, dance team members and owners will be on hand for the event. The team's first home game will be Monday, Feb. 17, at 7 p.m., at Freedom Hall, versus the Chicago Blitz.
