
Xplosion Players help feed Atlanta's Hungry

Atlanta, GA - Team Members from the Atlanta Xplosion spent a blustery Friday Morning working the 21st annual 11Alive Holiday Canathon at The Gallery at South Dekalb Mall.
Working with Atlanta's NBC affiliate and the Salvation Army, players not only collected cans for the event, but also spent the day unloading and separating canned goods at the drop off location.
Kicker Sara Ann Hudson, who is a teacher at the Springwood School challenged her students and collected nearly 2,000 cans, which were presented to the Salvation Army during a televised portion of the event.
Veterans; Hudson, Dee Ember, Suzanna Stephens, DeLon Herbert, Benita Booker, Kristal Holmes and Rookie Alida Simms also participated in a live radio broadcast during the show "Power Talk" on WAOK radio, fielding questions from call in listeners and hostess Lorraine Jacques White.
Kyle Orlando Massey who stars as "Cory" on the Disney Channel show "That's So Raven" tossed the football around with the Xplosion players and posed for photos as well.
The collection site at The Gallery at South DeKalb Mall also turned out the cast of "A Christmas Carol" from The Alliance Theater for a live performance.
The South DeKalb Mall location collected some 76,000 cans.
"With the economy the way it has been, unfortunately there are a lot of people in need at this time, and we are very fortunate to be in the position to help. Anything we can do to give back to the community that has been so supportive of us, well, you can bet we will be there to help," said Elizabeth Deschesne, Media Coordinator of the Xplosion.
