
Wolves Win Puts IceDogs on the Brink

Sudbury, Ont. (Thursday, March 29, 2007) - The Mississauga IceDogs were defeated 6-3 in the fourth game of their playoff series versus the Sudbury Wolves this evening. Once again, the Wolves star players led the way, as Nick Foligno and Marc Staal combined for 5 points and a +9 rating. As a result, the IceDogs find themselves down 3-1 in this Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series.
Sudbury's Justin Donati got the scoring started with a power-play goal at 6:40 of the opening frame, off of Adam McQuaid and Zach McCullough feeds. Chris Lawrence responded for the IceDogs with a power-play goal of his own, at 15:11, to tie up the affair. The lone assist went to blueliner Drew Schiestel.
The Wolves added two more goals early in the 2nd period, with Staal and Foligno (shorthanded) finding the back of the net at 2:55 and 4:44. Goaltender Sebastian Dahm collected the only assist. Luca Caputi then got the IceDogs to within a goal at 5:45, when he scored off of Josh Day and Stefan Legein passes.
Unfortunately, the Wolves blew the game wide-open before the end of the middle frame, with Foligno, Andrew Self and Patrick Lusnak tallies. The helpers were credited to Staal, Foligno, Donati, Self and Gerome Giudice.
Legein had the only goal in the 3rd period, a shorthanded marker at 3:31, with Matt Corrente providing the support.
Andrew Loverock finished the night with 29 saves for the IceDogs while Sebastian Dahm collected 32 for the Wolves. The IceDogs were 1 for 6 on the power-play while the Wolves were 1 for 10. The game's three stars were Staal (1st), Foligno (2nd) and Self (3rd).
