Manchester Wolves News Release

The Manchester Wolves (6-7) kept their playoff hopes alive with an amazing fourth quarter come from behind 62-58 win over East Division rival Green Bay Blizzard (8-6) in front of 5,016 fans at the Resch Center in Green Bay, WI. Friday night.

Wolves quarterback Steve Bellisari proved worthy of his first start of the year as the rookie from Ohio State University rallied his squad back from a 17-point deficit in the fourth quarter to a big four-point win. Bellisari finished with eight touchdowns on 327 yards, completing 20 of his 36 pass attempts, while also collecting one score on the ground.

The Blizzard, who came back from an early 20-7 hole, took their first lead of the game minutes before halftime at 35-34 and didn't surrender it until 40 seconds left in game after Bellisari connected with OS Steve Gonzalez on 6-yard touchdown that put Manchester up for good at 62-58. Green Bay had time to take the lead and the win but was unsuccessful in their attempt as Wolves' lineman Jimmy Williams deflected a pass from Blizzard quarterback James MacPherson right into the hands of teammate Brian Mance for the interception and Wolves victory.

Manchester was led by their two-headed receiving core of Gonzalez, nine catches for 117 yards and four touchdowns, and Wendell Williams, nine catches for 129 yards and three touchdowns.

Blizzard starting quarterback James MacPherson threw for 243 yards and two interceptions in the loss, while his favorite receiver Brent Holmes collected nine catches for 99 yards and three touchdowns.

U.S. Army Ironman of the Game Robert Boss played well on both sides of the field for the Blizzard as he caught a touchdown offensively while also recovering a fumble and grabbing an interception defensively.

Newly acquired kicker Dylan Pohlman came through once again for the Wolves as he not only connected on 8-of-9 PAT's, but gave Manchester two extra possessions which led to scores; the first after his kickoff sailed off the crossbar and was recovered by Ari Confesor and the second on a big on-side kick with two minutes left in the fourth quarter that was recovered by Cory Groover.

The Wolves will return home next week for "University of New Hampshire Night" to take on East Division rival Wilkes-Barre Scranton Pioneers (8-4) on Brady Sullivan Field at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, on July 14 th at 7:30pm.
