Manchester Wolves News Release

The Manchester Wolves and WGIR are putting on their poker faces and partnering to host the first annual Manchester Wolves/WGIR New Hampshire Charity Poker Classic. The tournament will be held on Saturday, April 8, at the Amoskeag Bingo Center (195 McGregor St., Manchester). All proceeds will benefit the Eddie "B" Foundation, which supports higher education, youth organizations and civic groups in the greater Manchester area, with a portion going to the Manchester Boys and Girls Club.

More than $80,000 in cash will be up for grabs, as the Top 10 finishers will earn cash prizes. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. and the main event will start at 3 p.m. The entry fee for the "Main Event", the No-Limit Texas Hold 'Em Poker Tournament, is $500 (with no re-buys or add-ons) but Wolves' fans with a game ticket will receive a $100 entry fee discount. Door prizes, such as Manchester Wolves season tickets and merchandise along with concert tickets from Rock 101, will be raffled off as well.

You can also win a seat for the Main Event by entering the Super Satellite Tournament held at 11 a.m. The entry fee for the Super Satellite tournament is $25, with unlimited $25 re-buys for the first three levels.

"This is going to be a great addition to opening weekend," said Wolves General Manager Angelo Mazzella. "Poker has become so popular. We're looking forward to doing something fun that is non-football related. We are really excited to be raising money for the Boys and Girls Club and the Eddie "B" Foundation and to have the opportunity to work with so many great people."

Pre-registration starts April 3 and will be limited to 200 players. Players can pre-register by calling the Manchester Wolves office at 603.627.WOLF (9653) or by visiting the Wolves/WGIR table on the lower concourse on April 7, during the home opener against the Green Bay Blizzard at the Verizon Wireless Arena. All checks and money orders should be made out to the Eddie "B" Foundation. Tournament entrants must be at least 18 years of age.
