
Wolves Sign Three

The Chicago Wolves have signed defensemen Dustin Friesen and David Pszenyczny and goaltender Charlie Effinger.
Friesen recorded three points (G, 2A) and six penalty minutes in 28 games with the American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers last season. He also appeared in 35 ECHL contests with the Idaho Steelheads, notching 15 assists, 17 points and 12 penalty minutes. The 28-year-old blueliner also tallied three points (G, 2A) in nine Kelly Cup playoff matchups with the Steelheads last year.
Overall, the Waldheim, Saskatchewan, native has registered five points (2G, 3A) and 10 penalty minutes in 28 career AHL games with Bridgeport (2009-11) and has accrued 39 assists, 46 points and 36 penalty minutes in 98 career ECHL outings with Idaho and the Utah Grizzlies (2009-11).
Pszenyczny tallied seven points (G, 6A) and 109 penalty minutes in 47 Central Hockey League games with the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs last year. He also notched four points (G, 3A) and 28 penalty minutes in 19 postseason matchups en route to helping Bossier-Shreveport win the 2011 President's Cup.
Overall, the 26-year-old blueliner recorded 20 goals, 54 points and 359 penalty minutes in 170 career CHL matchups with Bossier-Shreveport, spanning three seasons (2008-11). The Sterling Heights, Michigan, native has also skated in four AHL contests with the Toronto Marlies (2006-07) and accrued 41 points (11G, 30A) and 226 penalty minutes in 104 ECHL games with the Phoenix Roadrunners (2006-08), Alaska Aces (2007-08) and Reading Royals (2007-08).
Effinger spent the 2010-11 campaign backstopping the Newcastle Vipers of the Elite Ice Hockey League. He posted a 14-39-2 record and a 4.76 goals-against average in 56 games with Newcastle.
The 26-year-old goaltender's most recent North American action came in 2009-10, when he split the season between the CHL's Allen Americans and Missouri Mavericks. He notched a 8-3-1 mark and 2.34 goals-against average in 14 games with Allen and a 9-3-1 record and 2.69 goals-against average in 13 outings with Missouri that year. The Belleville, Illinois, native also has appeared in 22 ECHL contests with the Gwinnett Gladiators and Trenton Devils in 2008-09, posting a 9-10-2 record and 3.19 goals-against average.
In accordance with team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
