Manchester Wolves News Release

MANCHESTER, NH-- Manchester Wolves veteran defensive specialist Rob Green (6-1, 200, Massachusetts), who was an impact player in the 69-33 victory over the Tri-Cities Fever last weekend, today was named the arenafootball2 league Aaron's Defensive Player of the Week.

Green, now in his fifth af2 campaign, recorded 3.5 total tackles, two interceptions, one forced fumble, one pass breakup and a half a tackle for loss to help the Wolves win their third straight game. Both of Green's interceptions came in the first half as Manchester built a 42-6 halftime advantage. He returned his second pick for an 8-yard touchdown with seven seconds to play in the second quarter.

This is the first af2 weekly award of Green's career, although he has been the Wolves Aaron's Defensive Player of the Game winner in two of the four games played thus far this year. His four interceptions on the season lead the Wolves (3-1) and rank second in the league.

The 2009 campaign with the Wolves is the third for Green, who played for the team in the 2004 and 2006 seasons. He spent all of last season rehabilitating from a torn triceps muscle and serving as the defensive backfield coach for the af2 Arkansas Twisters, and has also been on the field for the old Albany Conquest, Cincinnati Jungle Cats, Louisville Fire, Mahoning Valley Thunder, and Central Valley Coyotes.

Green, who plans to retrun to the af2 coaching ranks next season, works as a behavioral specialist with youths and young adults aged five to 22. He developed a mentoring program named "3D", which stands for "Determination, Discipline, and Destiny" and lets those he works with realize that anything is possible with those principles.

Green will start again this week in a critical game against the East Division leading Pioneers in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pa. on Friday night. Kickoff is 7:30 PM and the game may be seen on Niftytv.com.
