Manchester Wolves News Release
MANCHESTER, N.H. (February 16, 2004) - The arenafootball2 league office announced today that University of Florida alum Bo Carroll has been assigned to the Manchester Wolves, along with wide receiver/defensive back Ryan Castellani and fullback/linebacker Josh Ison. Carroll (Cleveland Browns) and Castellani (New York Jets) spent time in NFL camps while Ison appeared in an AFL camp with the Colorado Crush.
The Wolves, New Hampshire's newest professional football team, now have 20 players on their training camp roster. Training camp begins on Thursday, March 18.
"I like what these guys can do on a football field," Wolves Head Coach Rik Richards said. "Carroll and Castellani are both lightning fast and have NFL-camp experience. Ison is an intelligent player who really gets after it."
Carroll, a 5-9, 170-pound af2 rookie, saw action in 38 regular season games over his four-year career at Florida. In that time, the Norristown, PA native rushed for 1,010 yards on 155 carries (6.51 avg.) and five touchdowns and also caught 26 passes for 392 yards and four touchdowns. Carroll also handled kick return duties for much of his Gator career, registering 1,183 yards (25.2 avg.) and two touchdowns on 47 kickoffs. His best season came as a junior in 1999 when he earned first-team Associated Press All-SEC honors. That year Carroll excelled as an all-purpose runner and kick returner, ranking second on the squad in rushing (577 yards) and first in kick returns (23 returns for 599 yards - 26.0 avg.). He also ranked third in the SEC in all-purpose yardage (119.3 yards per game). As explosive as Carroll was on the football field, he was even more impressive as a member of the Gators track team. In 2000, he was a member of Florida's 4x100 meter relay team that won the NCAA National Championship.
Castellani, a 6-0, 200-pound wide receiver/defensive back, is another Pennsylvania native (Peckville, PA) who should contribute to the Wolves in 2004. He enjoyed a stellar college career at Wagner, registering 183 total tackles, 10 interceptions and five sacks in four years with the Seahawks. Castellani was also a dangerous punt return man at Wagner, gaining over 1,200 career yards (1,225) with two touchdowns. He earned Don Hansen's Football Gazette first team honors as a sophomore and honorable mention accolades as a junior and senior. In 2003, Castellani signed with the New York Jets as an unrestricted free agent.
Ison, a 6-3, 245-pound fullback/linebacker, enters his first year in af2 after a standout career at Fairmont State (West Virginia). As a senior co-captain in 2002, Ison led the Falcons in tackles with 120 and was selected first-team All-WVIAC. In addition, Daktronics named him first-team All-Northeast Region and Don Hansen's Football Gazette recognized him with first-team All-Region honors. Most recently, the Waverly, OH native was a late training camp cut of the AFL's Colorado Crush.
Don't miss the Wolves first season of hard-hitting action in New Hampshire. Season ticket packages for the Wolves are available for dream, lower bowl and upper bowl seats and start as low as $112.
The Wolves kick off their inaugural season in New Hampshire on Saturday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m. against the Quad City Steamwheelers at the Verizon Wireless Arena. That night will truly be historic as the Manchester Wolves host the first arena football game ever played at the Verizon Wireless Arena.
