Wolfpack Start Camp

Wisconsin Wolfpack News Release

The Wisconsin Wolfpack have started the 2009 preseason training camp. The Pack is starting off with 40 players in camp. They will eventually need to trim that down to a 25-man roster.

"We are very excited to have begun camp," said Wolfpack general manager Ron Tyner. "When we first started it seemed like the season would never get here and now it is a little over a month away. We have worked tirelessly to find and bring in the best talent in the Midwest, many of which happen to be here in Wisconsin. We are very unique in the fact that we may end up with 90-100% of our roster being from Wisconsin."

The camp features some impressive players from across the state. The most well known names to Madisonians might be that of former Badger and All-Big Ten performer Darius Jones and Kurt Ware. Other top players in camp include University of Wisconsin-Whitewater All-American Mike Sherman, University of Wisconsin-Platteville record-breaking quarterback Tom Stetzer, and a prolific Platteville receiver, Reggie Davis. There are numerous other accomplished athletes looking to make a highly-talented Wolfpack roster.

"We have brought in a great number of very talented football players," notes head coach and owner Jordan Kopac. "I feel like the guys that we have in camp could play anywhere in this league. It's going to be a challenge for our staff to decide which cuts we will make, but in the end its a good problem to have."
