Wisconsin Wolfpack News Release

(MADISON) - The Wisconsin Wolfpack (7-2) battle the undefeated Cincinnati Commandos (9-0) at 7 p.m. Saturday night at the Hartmeyer Arena in Madison, Wis. in Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) action.

The Commandos are the top-rated offense in the CIFL, averaging nearly 52-1/2 points per game. The Wolfpack are second with 37-1/2 points per game. The Wolfpack own the top defense in the league, allowing just 24 points per game with Cincinnati right behind them giving up close to 28 points a game.

The Commandos are led by former University of Cincinnati star Ben Mauk. Mauk is the top-rated passer in the CIFL. He's thrown for 1,430 yards with 46 touchdowns and just 13 interceptions.

The Commandos have seven other former University of Cincinnati (UC) players on their roster, including the leading receiver in the CIFL, Dominick Goodman (47-473-18). Both of their running backs. Greg Moore and Ray Jackson, come from UC as well. Jackson played in one game for the Tennessee Titans in 2003 and was used as a kick returner.

The Wolfpack counter with six former Wisconsin Badgers, including quarterback Matt Schabert. Schabert is second in passing to Mauk with 850 yards and 19 touchdowns with just five interceptions. He's played in three less games, joining the Wolfpack in week three of the season after an injury to starter Brian Ryczkowski.

The strength of the Wolfpack is their defense. Led by former Badgers Kurt Ware on the line and Josh Nettles in the backfield, the Wolfpack defense has been stifling this season. Ware is second in the CIFL in sacks (12) and tackles for loss (16). He leads the league in forced fumbles with three. Nettles leads the league in passes defended (22) and is tied for second in interceptions (5).

The Wolfpack are coming off an easy win against the winless Chicago Cardinals at the Hartmeyer arena last week. Cincinnati got a scare at home from the Fort Wayne Firehawks (5-4) last week. The Firehawks led by 12 late in the game but Mauk threw a late touchdown and then E.J. Henderson returned a missed field goal 52 yards for a touchdown with just 50 seconds left to keep Cincinnati's perfect record intact.

The Wolfpack are giving away an 11"x17" color poster of the Pepsi Max Wild Things dance team to the first 250 fans Saturday. The giveaway is sponsored by Bud Light. Doors open at the Hartmeyer Arena at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door on Saturday or online at http://www.wiwolfpack.com/indoor. The game will be broadcast on the CIFL Radio Network and is available through the Wolfpack website.
