2013 WNBA All-Star Balloting Presented By Boost Mobile Tips Off On June 16
2013 WNBA All-Star Balloting presented by Boost Mobile will launch on Sunday at 5 p.m. ET. The Connecticut Sun will host the Boost Mobile WNBA All-Star Game for the third time in franchise history. ABC will nationally broadcast the game, which will take place on Saturday, July 27, at 3:30 p.m. ET.
Defending WNBA Champion Indiana Fever Visits White House
President Obama welcomed the defending WNBA champion Indiana Fever to the White House today to honor the team and their victory in the 2012 WNBA Finals. The visit continued the tradition begun by President Obama of honoring sports teams for their efforts to give back to communities as part of their trip to Washington. Following the event with the President, the Indiana Fever led a Let's Move! basketball clinic on the South Lawn with local schoolchildren.
Tulsa Shock Receives WNBA Cares Community Assist Award Presented By State Farm
As its community continues to recover and heal, the Tulsa Shock organization was awarded the WNBA Cares Community Assist Award presented by State Farm for its contributions during the month of May to the Oklahoma tornado relief efforts.
Lynx Continue Success At Home
Lindsay Whalen's 23 points led the Minnesota Lynx to an 87-72 victory over the San Antonio Silver Stars on Tuesday, extending their franchise record home win streak to 11 games. The Lynx's previous best was a nine-game home win streak, achieved twice (7/16/11-8/30/11 and 8/8/11-6/27/12). Minnesota broke that record and extended its streak to 10 with a 99-79 win over Phoenix on June 6.
