
WNBA offers fans chance to win over $1 million in prizes with Summer of Dreams campaign

SACRAMENTO, CALIF., - WNBA players won't be the only ones winning this summer. In celebration of the league's eighth season, the WNBA will offer fans the chance to win more than $1 million, a luxury vacation and other great prizes through a series of local promotions as part of the Summer of Dreams campaign. The campaign begins Saturday, April 17, and runs throughout the regular season, ending on September 21.
"The WNBA is proud of the relationship we've formed with our fans over the past seven years," WNBA Chief Operating Officer Ann Sarnoff said. "As we prepare for one of our most exciting seasons ever, we wanted to give something back to our fans. With the Summer of Dreams campaign, we can tie them even more closely to the game they love by giving them a chance to win some great prizes."
In Sacramento, fans will be automatically entered in each of the Summer of Dreams
promotions upon purchasing any Monarchs regular season game ticket(s) within the
respective promotional periods through SacramentoMonarchs.com, WNBA.com,
Ticketmaster.com, or by calling (916) 419-WNBA. In addition, fans can also enter
the promotion by completing entry forms at the ARCO Arena Box Office and at

details visit www.wnba.com Summer of Dreams tips off on Saturday, April 17, immediately following the 2004 WNBA
Draft. The top prizes include: * Shoot For Your Dreams:
One fan from each team market, 13 in total, will have an in-game opportunity to
shoot a lay-up to win $1,000 cash prize and if successful, move on to a free throw
for $10,000 and finally a 3-pointer for $100,000. If all 13 contestants go all the
way, the prize money will total $1.3 million. The team promotions take place from
April 17-May 22. The winner in Sacramento will shoot on Saturday, June 5 when the
Monarchs take on the Seattle Storm. Winners in other WNBA markets will shoot for
prizes from May 20-June 5. * Dream Vacation:
One fan will win a trip for four to a dream vacation destination of his/her
choice. This promotion runs from June 22-July 15. * Dream Trip to the WNBA Finals:
One fan will win a trip for four to the WNBA Finals. This promotion runs from
September 1-September 21. * Court of Dreams:
One community group selected from among all team markets that sells the most group
tickets for a specified game will receive the prize of its choice: a
WNBA-identified basketball court, or a community reading and learning center or
$10,000 cash. This promotion runs from September 1-September 19. In addition, as part of the Summer of Dreams campaign, each team will host a Dreams
Come True Fan Festival during the season. Fans will celebrate with their favorite
team and honor local players and Olympians for their achievements. The WNBA's 2004 regular season begins with 12 games over four days on Opening
Weekend, May 20-23, and includes ABC's season-opening broadcast on May 22, at
4 p.m. ET as the Connecticut Sun hosts the Phoenix Mercury. The 2004 WNBA Draft,
featuring the deepest draft class in WNBA history, will take place April 17 at 12:00
p.m. ET and for the first time ever, will be broadcast live on ESPN. The broadcast
will top off the record-breaking viewership the network received for this year's
Women's NCAA Championship Game which was the most viewed college basketball game
