WNBA Finals to Reach a Record 203 Countries in 31 Languages

NEW YORK, Sept. 4, 2007 - The 2007 WNBA Finals, featuring the Detroit Shock and Phoenix Mercury, will be available to fans in more than 200 countries and territories for the first time in league history. The Finals, which will air in the U.S. on ESPN/ESPN2, will be brought to fans in a record 203 countries and territories in 31 languages courtesy of a record 74 television partners. This breaks last years mark's of 198 countries in 29 languages via 60 television partners.

"The continued interest from new television partners is a testament to the growing popularity of women's basketball and the increasing number of WNBA fans around the globe," said WNBA President Donna Orender.

The WNBA has entered into agreements with 11 first-time television partners for the 2007 WNBA Finals: GDTV-Chongqing and Shanghai TV (China); Urheilu+kanava (Finland); J sports 1, J sports 2 and J sports Plus (Japan); NBA TV-CanalSat Horizons, NBA TV-CanalSat Reunion (Pan Africa); NBA TV-CanalSat Caraibes, NBA TV-Amnet (Pan Latin America); NBA TV-TCC (Uruguay).

Phoenix Mercury international players Belinda Snell and Penny Taylor, both from Australia, will represent the WNBA's international player contingent during the 2007 WNBA Finals. The WNBA continues to feature the best female basketball players from around the world and rosters at the end of the 2007 season featured 24 international players from 16 countries and territories.
