Published on October 12, 2004 under Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) News Release
SEATTLE, October 12, 2004 â For the first time in the league's eight-year history, the WNBA sold out all three Finals Games, extending its Finals sellout streak to four games. Last season's Game 3 of the 2003 WNBA Finals (Los Angeles Sparks vs. Detroit Shock series) was also at capacity.
Tonight's Game 3 between the Connecticut Sun and the Seattle Storm drew a sellout crowd of 17, 072 in Seattle's KeyArena.
With the Storm making its first trip to the Finals, Game 2 and Game 3 each broke the all-time record for Seattle's single-game regular and postseason attendance. This also marks the seventh highest playoff attendance figure ever in the history of the WNBA.
Four networks carried 2004 WNBA Playoffs action, which tipped-off on September 24. ABC, ESPN2, Oxygen and NBA TV provided First Round and Second Round coverage, while WNBA Finals were televised in their entirety on ESPN2. In addition, 52 telecasters will broadcast WNBA Finals programming to 188 countries in 30 languages.
