
Wizards' Conrad Out 4-6 Weeks

KANSAS CITY, MO (Friday, August 11, 2006) - Kansas City Wizards defender Jimmy Conrad is expected be out for four-to-six weeks due to an injury sustained in this past Wednesday's match against the New England Revolution it was determined today by the team's medical staff. The 2005 MLS Defender of the Year had his jaw fractured when he was hit by the elbow of Revolution midfielder Clint Dempsey while going up for a head ball early in the second half of Wednesday's 0-0 draw.
The Wizards' team captain has started 11 matches for Kansas City this season having missed nine games overall, seven while he was with the United States National Team during this summer's World Cup and two while he was recovering from a sports hernia surgery. Conrad has scored two goals in 2006 for the Wizards, including the game-winner in Kansas City's 1-0 week three victory over New England.
Conrad is slated to undergo further review from additional medical personal next week.
