Winkfield Leads PA Rebellion to Victory over SY Dawgs

The Woodlands, TX (July 2, 2016) - The Scrap Yard Dawgs took on the Pennsylvania Rebellion for game one of a two-game weekend.

The Dawgs and the Rebellion went scoreless until the top of the third inning. Kayla Winkfield led the inning off with a hit by pitch and Mandy Ogle followed with a shot that tipped off of the glove of third baseman Amanda Fama. Kristyn Sandberg stepped up to the plate and was hit by a pitch to lead the bases for Alexa Peterson. Dawgs pitcher Sara Driesenga battled against Peterson for the strikeout, but Peterson walked and brought in a run for the Rebellion (1-0).

The Dawgs were quick to answer back with a double by Emilee Koerner to lead off the inning, followed by a walk to Nerissa Myers and a rocket straight back to the pitcher by Christian Stokes to load the bases. Madison Shipman hit a sac fly to center field to bring in a run for the Dawgs (1-1).

In the fourth inning, the Rebellion score two more funs to make the score 3-1. The Rebellion put another run on the board in the seventh with Sandber's double to center field to score Winkfield from second base. Peterson followed with a triple to score Sandberg, and Lindsey Stephens hit a shot up the middle to score Peterson (6-1). The Dawgs fought to ignite a spark offensively throughout the game and fell short to the Rebellion with a final score of 6-1.

Staring pitcher Sara Driesenga had six strikeouts through seven innings and Rachel Fox entered in relief to finish the game.
