Wichita Wings News Release

WICHITA, KS - The Wichita Wings are excited to announce the signing of league MVP Gieson Moura to this season's lineup pending league approval. Gieson is an all-star indoor soccer player that has the ability to take games over with his impressive gameplay and natural instincts. Moura, having led the Missouri Comets to the post season the last two years is sure to add to the Wings offensive attack as well as become a viable defensive addition.

Last season with the Comets, Geison led the MISL in scoring with 90 points, on 37 goals with an average of 5 points per game. This adds unprecedented offensive firepower to the Wings lineup which in turn can add scoring opportunities for other players with opposing defenses seemingly unable to match up.

Wings General Manager John Blazek is excited to see the potential of this year's Wings roster. "We couldn't be happier to have Geison wearing Wichita's Black and Orange this season. He's an outstanding player that can significantly impact games as well as make his teammates better." Mr. Blazek and Coach Hollimon have increased the talent level on this year's roster significantly in just year two of the organization. Coach Hollimon noted "We've built a team Wichita can be proud of by getting the best players that will fit our system. Gieson will add a great amount to our team no question, but we're excited about the entire unit working together."

Moura turned pro at age 19 when he signed with the A.A Portuguesa Santista and played in the 2006 Federation Cup. Moving to America in 2007, Geison immediately helped the New Jersey Ironmen (MISL) reach the playoffs. In 2010 Moura stepped back outdoors joining the FC Minnesota Stars and in his second year helped the team win the 2011 NASL Championship. During the NASL down time Geison played for the Missouri Comets where he has been a strong force in leading the Comets to the playoffs the last two seasons. Because of his outstanding play last season, the MISL voted Geison as the League's Most Valuable Player.

This new and improved Wichita Wings squad starts the regular season Sunday, November 4th at 3:05pm.
