Wichita Wings News Release

WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) opened their inaugural season in dramatic fashion. Losing a heartbreaking game to the Missouri Comets is not likely to be soon forgotten. The game went into sudden death overtime when at the 10:31 min. mark, Comets midfielder Morra Geissn scored, giving Missouri the final victory, 16-14.

Post game, Wings Head Coach LeBaron Hollimon spoke briefly on the teams play. "Today was the first real step in our season. We're going to take a lot away from tonight's game and gear up tomorrow night. The men fought hard to the last second"

The game was played in front of 4,695 Wings fanatics- a sellout crowd for Hartman Arena. "The biggest story of tonight was the fans," said Wings Mid Fielder and Wichita native Chris Lemons. "The atmosphere out here tonight was insane. To get the opportunity to come out here and play in front of the city that has given so much to me and all of the guys on this team is a dream come true. I only wish we could have walked away with a win, but you have to give a lot of credit to the Comets- they played a solid game."

The Wings return to action tomorrow night for the second game of their double header opening weekend. The game is in Missouri- kick-off is at 7:35pm Central Time.
