Wilmington Hammerheads FC News Release
Wilmington, NC - The Wilmington Hammerheads are scheduled to play the Phoenix FC Wolves on Saturday, June 1 at 7:30 p.m. on their home pitch of Legion Stadium. This will be the Hammerheads fifth home game of the season and the second time they will play the Wolves. In late April, the Wolves took a 3-1 victory over the Hammerheads while having a one man advantage for partial of the match due to a Hammerheads red card.
The Hammerheads (2-7-0) are looking for a win this weekend at Legion after two consecutive losses on the road in Florida last weekend versus Orlando City and Tampa Bay. The team is looking to follow their previous home victory from two weeks ago at Legion Stadium versus the LA Blues.
The Wolves (2-5-3) will play the Richmond Kickers Friday, May 31 before heading to Wilmington for the Saturday night match against the Hammerheads.
The Hammerheads have been on the road the last two weeks, playing four matches in an eight day span, and are ready to be back on their home field this weekend. They have played two USL PRO regular season games as well as two U.S. Open Cup matches.
The Hammerheads concluded their 2013 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup run in Portland, Ore. on Wednesday night as Major League Soccer's Portland Timbers took a 5-1 victory to move on to the fourth round versus the Tampa Bay Rowdies of NASL.
