Lafayette Wildcatters News Release
LAFAYETTE, LA (March 26, 2010) - After one game, the Lafayette Wildcatters of the Southern Indoor Football League have made a head coaching change deciding to let go of John Fourcade while hiring Skip Foster as their new head coach.
"This was a very difficult decision," said Ray Ronquillo, President of the Wildcatters. "John Fourcade was a tremendous asset to our organization, and we are thankful to John for all he did, but at this time we felt that a different direction was needed for the team."
With a coaching career that started in 1995 with the Miami Hooters (AFL), Fourcade has been a mainstay for the sport of indoor/arena football. A quarterback for the New Orleans Saints, John currently serves as an NFL analyst for NBC 6 (WDSU) in New Orleans. In 2009, he led the Acadiana Mudbugs to the SIFL's inaugural playoffs finishing with a 9-4 record.
Foster replaces Fourcade with an impressive resume which includes an Arena Cup championship (AF2) back in 2003 with the Tulsa Talons and was the offensive coordinator for the Columbus Destroyers when the club reached the AFL championship game in 2007.
"We are happy to announce Skip Foster as the new coach as he brings more than 27 years of coaching experience to the Wildcatters," continues Wildcatters President Ronquillo. "Skip has been successful at every level he has coached at from high school all the way up to the AFL."
Foster will have two weeks to prepare the Wildcatters for the next contest set to take place on Saturday April 17th when they travel to take on the Albany Panthers. Skip extremely excited about the opportunity to coach in the indoor sport again.
"The thing that struck me most when talking to President Ronquillo about the Wildcatters was the organization's commitment to bringing a Championship to the community of Lafayette," says Foster."I am excited to get started, and firmly believe with the talent on this football team, we can win the SIFL Championship this year."
Skip will get his chance to meet members of the Lafayette community this Sunday, March 28 from 2-6 p.m. at the square in River Ranch for a meet and greet. Fans who attend will get to meet the new head coach as well as players and danceteam members. For more information, be sure to log on to www.lafayettewildcatters.com.
