Lafayette Wildcatters News Release
GREENVILLE, S.C. (March 21, 2010) - The Lafayette Wildcatters, members of the Southern Indoor Football League, began its season with a 44-28 loss to the Force in Greenville. The Wildcatters are 0-1 to start the 2010 season.
The Wildcatter's struck first after a Bo Bartik pass to Clarence Cotten set up a Steven Korte score from the one. Sean Comiskey missed the extra point, making it a 6-0 game.
The Wildcatter's did not enjoy its lead long as Greenville Force quarterback Andrew Webb hit Issac West over the middle to tie the game at 6.
The Wildcatters ended the first quarter with a turnover on downs. Your score after one was Wildcatters 6, Force 6.
Greenville struck first in the second, as Webb hit West again for a long score. The Force convert the PAT, and went up 13-6 for the first and final lead change.
On its next possession, the Wildcatters offense stalled. Comiskey's field goal attempt fell short, and the Force returned it 55 yards for a touchdown to extend its lead to 20-6.
The Wildcatters would not roll over easy. On the ensuing possession, Bartik connected with Clyde Edwards to end the half, cutting the Force lead to only 7. It looked like the two teams were in for a slugfest going into the locker rooms, but unfortunately, this is as close as Lafayette would get.
The Force came out in the second half business as usual with yet another Webb to West touchdown. This made it a 27-13 game.
After a fumble by the Wildcatters, the Force scored yet again, this time by booting a 20-yard field goal, extending its lead to 17.
The Force fireworks continued two quick touchdowns: one to end the third quarter and another in the early minutes of the fourth. This would end the scoring for the Force, as they took a 44-13 lead.
The Wildcatters did make a late-game push, scoring twice before the end of the game. It was too little too late as your final score was Greenville Force 44, Lafayette Wildcatters 28.
The Wildcatters hit the road on April 17 after three bye weeks. The game against Albany is set for 6 p.m. CST in Georgia.
