Wichita Falls Wildcats News Release
The Wildcats hosted the Texas Tornado on Thursday and shut them out 6-0. The Cats derailed the juggernaut Tornado and ended their 18-game winning streak. With the win the Cats improve their record to 2-0.
The Wildcats jumped on the Tornado early and never looked back. The Cats won the game with a balanced attack as they had nine different players with either a goal or an assist in the contest. Kyle Kraemer scored the first goal of the night midway through the first period with assists by Dan Medenwaldt and Chris Ochoa. Ochoa added the second goal of the game with Medenwaldt on the assist. Despite grabbing an early 2-0 lead after one period of play these Cats did not let up. They added three goals in the second period to increase their lead to 5-0 after the second period. Alex Molnar had a goal and an assist in the period, while Dan Sexton and Adam Cardwell each scored a goal. Chris Nicolaou, Cash Cochran, and Chris Ochoa all netted assists. The Wildcats continued their dominance in the third period as Adam Cardwell added his second goal of the night, with an assist from Skylur Jameson put the Wildcats up 6-0. Goaltender Thomas Billick recorded 23 saves and earned his first shutout as a Wildcat. The entire Wildcats defensive unit was impressive as they limited the high scoring Tornado to only 23 shots on goal. The Wildcats players won this game with a total team effort. All of the players contributed to the win.
"Everyone contributed to the win from our goaltender on out," said Wildcats Head Coach Brian Meisner. "We played hard in all three zones and it was a good step for us in the young season."
The Cats host the Springfield Junior Blues this weekend at home on Saturday, October 1st at 7:00pm, and again on Sunday, October 2nd at 6:00pm. The Wildcats have jumped out to a great start and hope to continue to rolling, so come out and support your Wichita Falls Wildcats!
