Wichita Falls Wildcats News Release

The Wildcats came out strong the first two periods of Saturday night's game against the Santa Fe Roadrunners. The Roadrunners had defeated the Cats two days before by the score of 3-2. Just two minutes and thirty seconds into the contest #18 Adam Cardwell opened the scoring with a goal, the assist came from #15 Dan Sexton. Moments later the Cats appeared to score again, however the referee ruled the goal net had come off its pegs previous to the puck going in. Santa Fe managed to score one first period goal

The Wildcats really dominated the Roadrunners in the second period; play was very physical throughout the game. Chris Ochoa, Jordan Novak, and Alex Molnar all scored goals in the second period with assists coming from Nick Ghidina, Cash Cochran, and Sean Nealon accordingly.

Santa Fe scored two goals in the third period, the last one coming with just forty five seconds remaining in the game. Santa Fe pulled their goalie to opt for an extra attacker on the ice; fortunately for the Wildcats the Roadrunners tactic backfired as four year veteran Dan Medenwalt scored an empty net goal to salt away the win for the Cats. The win brings the Wildcats season record to 10 wins and 5 losses, good for second place in the NAHL South division.

"Our team was well prepared to play Saturday night as was evident in the first and second periods. We are a young team and we are learning how to finish games" said Associate Head Coach Mike Perkins.

"It was nice to see our Power Play get back on track. Special teams are a very important aspect of a hockey game. If we can get both our Power Play as well as the Penalty Kill clicking at the same time we will be a tough team to beat" said Perkins.

Come out and support you're Wildcats on November 11th as they take on the Springfield Jr. Blues at 7:05 p.m.
