Wichita Wild News Release

Wichita, KS - The Wichita Wild organization is beginning preparation for the 2013 season with major changes. Aside from joining a new league, the CPIFL, the Wild have signed well-known indoor football Quarterback, Rocky Hinds for the 2013 campaign. Hinds joins the Wild after playing the 2012 season for the Nebraska Danger of the IFL and the 2010 to 2011 seasons with the Bloomington Extreme.

Rocky Hinds, a native of Los Angeles, joins the Wild as a highly decorated quarterback at this point in his professional career. Hinds is known for his strong arm and running ability, which put immense pressure on the defenses he faced in the IFL. In 2011, Hinds, a finalist for IFL MVP while playing for Bloomington, had a career year when he threw for 2,219 yards with 40 touchdowns and 18 interceptions. This past season, playing for Nebraska, Hinds was again among the leaders statistically at the quarterback position, throwing for 2,096 yards, 49 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions in 12 regular season games played.

"I'm really excited to join the Wild. I've played in the IFL for a couple years against the Wild and it's a great organization with great coaches," Hinds said. "I'm going to bring a winning attitude and try to win a championship with the team."

Hinds has been a highly rated player at the quarterback position throughout his entire career dating back to high school. Ranked by rivals.com as a four star quarterback and as the eighth best dual threat quarterback nationally coming out of high school, Hinds signed with the University of Southern California (USC) in 2004. He took a redshirt his freshman year, preserving a year of his eligibility while still being able to practice. After playing the 2005 season behind quarterbacks Matt Leinart and John David Booty, Hinds decided to transfer to UNLV. He enjoyed two stellar seasons with the team, ranking among the leaders in passing yards in a single season by throwing for over 2,000 yards in both his junior and senior seasons at UNLV.

Hinds joins the Wichita Wild in the CPIFL, the Champions Professional Indoor Football League, for the 2013 season, which is set to kick off March 9 when the Wild travel to Tulsa to take on the Oklahoma Defenders.
