Published on March 10, 2013 under Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release
GLENDALE, AZ (March 10, 2013) - It was a historic Sunday in the CHL as both Wichita Head Coach Kevin McClelland and Rapid City forward Scott Wray reached milestones in their team's wins.
McClelland won his 300th CHL game on Sunday in his team's 4-3 shootout win in Missouri. In his third season behind the bench for the Thunder and his eighth in the CHL, McClelland is now 300-169-43 in the CHL, coaching for the Mississippi RiverKings and Colorado Eagles before his duties with Wichita. A two-time winner of the CHL Coach of the Year Award (2007 with Mississippi and last season with Wichita), McClelland has his team in second place this season with a 35-17-8 record. McClelland is just the seventh CHL coach to reach the 300-win club.
Wray's milestone day had its theatrics as the veteran scored two goals in his team's 4-3 shootout win in Denver making Wray the 14th player to reach 600 CHL points. The second goal for the Ottawa native was the game winning goal in the shootout. In his 14th professional season and fourth with the Rapid City Rush, Wray is fifth on the league's all-time goal scoring list with 298 scores. The Rush are in fourth place in the CHL with a 32-23-6 record.
