November 26, 2011 - Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL)
Wichita Wings News Release
WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) will take on Central Division rival, Milwaukee Wave, this Sunday on the road for the second meeting of the season. Kick-off of the game is scheduled at 4:00 pm (CT) on Sunday, November 27th at U.S. Cellular Arena.
The previous meeting between the two sides was a physical and mental battle as both teams saw 4 point leads be evaporated. Both teams saw extended amounts of possession and created many chances that could not find the back of the net. Wichita almost ran away with a win, but in the end, Milwaukee walked away with a 15-13 win over the Wings.
Milwaukee has jumped out to a substantial lead in the Central Division accumulating a 3-0 record, with wins over both Central Division rivals the Wichita Wings and the Missouri Comets. Milwaukee most recently defeated the Missouri Comets on November 20th and has had a week to prepare for the matchup with the Wings on Sunday. Milwaukee looks to win their second home game over the Wings this season, but the Wings have other plans.
Wichita is coming off the teams first win of the season, beating the Norfolk SharX at home in Hartman Arena in a final score of 16-11. The "Black Friday Special" was lead by Wings Midfielder Jamar Beasley, Wichita's current leading scoring, who added 3 more goals onto the season in the game. The Wings look to keep their momentum rolling from their win over the SharX into the Sunday game in Milwaukee.
Key match-ups: Milwaukee Offense vs Wichita Defense Milwaukee's offense has been prolific this season with 15 players collecting points in their first 3 games. Milwaukee has scored 47 points this season through three games averaging15.6 points per game. Wichita must look to contain and frustrate the Wave's offense. The Wings power play defense has had a success rate of 72.73% against opponents in not allowing them to score, and this could very well dictate the outcome of Sunday's game.
Keep an eye on: Freddy Moojen The Wings forward has seen limited action this season due to some nagging injuries, but looks to start his season off right with a productive offensive performance. Moojen, a one-time rookie of the year in the MISL, has only garnered 1 assist this season and will undoubtedly be looking to return to form this Sunday.
The Wings will return home to Hartman Arena on December 2nd to take on the Syracuse Silver Knights.
