Wichita Wings News Release

WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) will hit the road to take on the Missouri Comets at the Independence Event Center on Wednesday December 28th before returning home to Hartman Arena on December 30th to host the Comets in the second of a two game show down. Kick-off is scheduled to start at 7:35pm (CT) for both games.

The upcoming Comets - Wings matchups will be two crucial mid-season games, with both teams fighting to gain a dominating foothold of second place in the Central Division.

The Missouri Comets, currently at 7-5 sitting second in the Central Division, last played against the Syracuse Sliver Knights on December the 23rd in a game that ended in a Silver Knights victory of 18-8. The Comets are known for a high offensive prowess, being lead by Geison, currently leading the MISL in points with 43.

The Wings, currently at 3-6 sitting third in the Central Division, are coming off a 12 day break after losing to the Milwaukee Wave in Milwaukee on December 16th in a final score of 15-4. The Wings next 7 games are against Central Division opponents and these two games could easily decide which teams advance into the MISL playoffs. Wichita is yet to win a game against the Comets, having dropped both games in the MISL opening weekend double-header at the start of November. The Wings are being lead by Jamar Beasley, currently third in the MISL total points race with 37.

Key match-ups: Power Scoring vs. Clutch Goalkeeping Jamar Beasley vs. Danny Waltman Currently leading the league in minutes played (716) and second in SA (195) Waltman will have his hands full trying to stop Jamar Beasley who currently has 37 points off of 33 shot attempts. Geison vs. Sanaldo Carvalho Geison, the Comets standout Midfielder, has had no problem finding the goal over the first 12 games of the season. With 43 points off of 78 shot attempts, Geison will no doubt find a challenge in his showdown against Wings goalkeeper Sanaldo Carvalho, currently third in league saves with 124.

Keep an eye on: Daniel Villegas Although the rookie has seen limited playing time the first half of the season due to injury, when on the pitch, Villegas has shown he has the makings to be an impact player in the MISL. Villegas should see increased playing time in the upcoming matches and his presence could be a difference maker for the Wings.
