Whitecaps release 2006 regular season schedule

Vancouver Whitecaps FC, in conjunction with the United Soccer Leagues (USL), released their 2006 Men's regular season schedule today. The Whitecaps will kick off their 2006 campaign on Saturday, April 22 against their longtime rivals Portland Timbers at Swangard Stadium.
The Whitecaps 2006 schedule will feature 28 regular season games: 14 away and 14 at Swangard Stadium. The Whitecaps, which are part of the 12-team single table USL First Division, will play a home and away game against each team as well as an additional home and away versus regional rivals: Seattle, Portland and Minnesota.
The Whitecaps 2006 home schedule will include five games on Sunday, four on Friday, three on Saturday, one on Thursday and a special Victoria Day Monday tilt versus Rochester.
The USL First Division Champions and cross-border rivals, Seattle Sounders, will make their first of two appearances to Swangard on Friday, May 26. Also, perennial league powerhouse and Canadian rivals, Montreal Impact, will travel to Vancouver on Sunday, July 16, for a 7:00 p.m. (PST) match.
The USL First Division playoffs will kick off on the third weekend of September with a pair of two-leg, aggregate score series in the First Round, featuring third to sixth place teams, with the top two teams from the regular season receiving byes to the semifinals. The semifinals will also be two-leg, aggregate score series the following week with the USL First Division championship game on September 30.
