Game Notes
Lynx keeper Bryheem Hancock made some outstanding saves early on to keep Vancouver off the scoresheet. Just two minutes in stopped a blast from Winston Griffiths on the left. Then at 6' he saved a free kick from Davide Xausa at the post. His best save was a spectacular one-hander on a powerful header by Carlo Corazzin at 20'.
Ali Gerba had several chances in the second half to net the insurance goal, most notably a breakaway at 65' that was denied by Mike Franks with a kick save.
Goalkeeper Mike Franks made his first start since June 11, ending a run of 13 consecutive starts for Alex Marques.
Toronto out-shot Vancouver 14-11.
The Whitecaps played to a 0-0 tie yesterday in Montreal. The Caps have yet to score on this road trip.
Scoring Summary
28' Tor Darren Baxter (Jamie Dodds) Dodds fed the ball to Baxter to the left of goal and he rifled a quick shot past Franks from in close.
84' Tor Charles Gbeke (Ali Gerba) Gerba at the top of the box making moves eventually chipped it to Gbeke to the left of goal and the former Vancouver player clipped it in from 5 yards.
