
Whitecaps 2009 Broadcast Schedule Unveiled

VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced today their 2009 broadcast schedule. This season will see 17 Whitecaps matches broadcast live throughout the Province of British Columbia, including eight games on Shaw TV, Cable 4. The 2009 season will mark the fourth consecutive year that the Whitecaps have partnered with Shaw TV as their primary regional Whitecaps broadcaster.
The Whitecaps kick off their 2009 Shaw broadcast package at home on Friday, June 12, with a special Whitecaps men's and women's doubleheader. The women take on Los Angeles Legends at 5 p.m. and the men battle Miami FC Blues at 8 p.m.
Peter Schaad, the voice of the Whitecaps, will be returning for his fifth season as the play-by-play announcer. Alan Errington, a former assistant coach with Canada's men's national team and Vancouver 86ers, will once again be joining Peter in the broadcast booth as the colour commentator, while Kristin Reid will provide live interviews and additional insight from the sidelines.
All Whitecaps matches on Shaw TV will be available throughout the Lower Mainland (Delta Cable in Delta), Vancouver Island in Victoria, Nanaimo, and Duncan, as well as Whistler, Kamloops, Kelowna, Prince George, and Calgary, Alberta.
In addition to the matches on Shaw TV, there will be three Nutrilite Canadian Championship matches live on Rogers Sportsnet. Also, the Whitecaps away tilt versus Montreal Impact on Saturday, June 20, at 10:30 a.m., will be broadcast live on CBC to highlight Soccer Day in Canada. Five Whitecaps regular season matches will be featured on Fox Sports World Canada (Fox Soccer Channel in the United States). All of the Whitecaps men's regular season matches that are not part of the USL Fox Sports World Canada broadcast package will be available for free at USLlive.com. The defending USL-1 champion Whitecaps kick off their 2009 campaign against Charleston Battery at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, at Swangard Stadium. Whitecaps 2009 season tickets are now on sale. Season tickets include all men's and women's team regular season and playoff home matches at Swangard Stadium, Nutrilite Canadian Championship home matches against Toronto FC and Montreal Impact, as well as priority listing for Vancouver MLS 2011 at BC Place.
