Chillicothe Paints News Release

The Chillicothe Paints announced that their former left-handed reliever, Michael Kesten, has signed a contract with the Chicago White Sox organization.

Kesten joined the Paints in August of the 2003 season after playing most of the summer for Kelowna in the Canadian Professional League before that league folded.

In his short stint with the Paints, Kesten posted an impressive 2.84 ERA and was instrumental in the Paints' successful run for a playoff bid.

"It's tough to lose a pitcher like Kesten, but we knew with his size (6-3, 235), being a left hander, and a 93 mph fast ball that he had a great opportunity to sign an affiliated contract," commented Paints' manager, Jamie Keefe.

"We wish Michael nothing but the best and I think he has a very good chance to move up in the ranks if he stays healthy."

Kesten, age 22, is no stranger to the affiliated ranks. He was signed by the Seattle Mariners at age 18 and spent four years in the Mariners' organization before being released in March of 2003.
