O'Fallon, MO - For the second time in less than a year, Brian Logan has been the property of the River City Rascals, but then never put on a Rascal uniform before joining another club.

Logan's contract officially became purchased by the Chicago White Sox shortly after the New Year and he will join the Southsiders' Minor League camp for spring training in Tucson, Arizona.

Logan was reacquired back from the Southern Illinois Miners on September 12, along with the Miners second round draft pick in the 2008 Frontier League draft to complete an earlier trade. The Richmond, Virginia native was first a Rascal for a brief time on August 13, when the Gateway Grizzlies sent Logan to River City for a 2008 second round draft pick. Logan immediately then was traded to the Miners for future considerations.

"This is a great opportunity for Brian to make a name for himself and to showcase his skills," Rascals Manager Toby Rumfield said. "I hope he does well and they keep him on board, but if he doesn't, I'd love to see him in a Rascals uniform next season that's for sure."

The 5'11 left-hander became a 2007 Frontier League All-Star while wearing the Miners' gold and black. Coming out of the bullpen, Logan experienced great success when pitching at Rent One Park. In 2007, he went 2-0 with a 1.62 ERA and had 22 strikeouts in 16.2 innings. On the road however, his numbers dropped significantly, as walks became an issue. Logan walked 14 batters in 13.2 innings away from Marion.

"The biggest thing is his control," Rumfield continued. "He's got the stuff and he's a hard thrower from the left side, he's just now going to have to find the strike zone consistently. If he can do that, he'll be alright."

OTHER RASCAL NEWS: Madrid honored as All-Diamond Team First Baseman

In a position dominated by power numbers, nobody did it better as a River City Rascal than Mike Madrid. Madrid was voted on by the fans this past week, with an overwhelming 74% of the vote, to represent first base on the Rascals' All-Diamond team in honor of the tenth season of baseball in O'Fallon.

Madrid's time as a Rascal spread over three seasons, 2004-06, and currently he holds four single season batting records and the career mark for home runs, 47. The left-handed slugger holds the record for hits in a season (119, 2005), total bases (190, 2005), home runs (19, 2005), and RBIs (85, 2005).
