Valley Blue Sox News Release
Holyoke, MA - When the season opened for USC this year, the Trojans called on junior left-hander Bob Wheatley for the start.
In the bullpen sat Bob's younger brother Brent, a freshman at USC, and possibly the other part of a brother one-two punch for the Trojans in the next two seasons.
But before getting to USC and joining forces with brother Bob, the younger Wheatley had already made a name for himself in high school.
Brent attended Orange Lutheran High School in Orange, California where the accolades rolled in during his career.
Among all his awards Brent was named a Louisville Slugger First Team All-American in 2012 and was the Trinity League Pitcher of the Year as a senior.
Along with that for two consecutive seasons Brent was name an Under Armour and Perfect Game All-American in 2011 and 2012.
This season so far Brent has made two appearances totaling 12.2 innings pitched going 1-1 with a 4.97 ERA allowing eight runs and walking six while striking out nine.
Opponents this season are batting just .320 against the right-hander and have mustered up only four extra base hits, four doubles.
Wheatley will join the Blue Sox following the conclusion to the 2013 season for the USC Trojans.
