
Whale Sign Katelynn Russ, While Rivs Sign Jayne Lewis and Haley Frade

The Connecticut Whale have signed forward Katelynn Russ, who just completed her collegiate career at Union College as their leading goal scorer (8) in 2019-20. She also led the team with an average of 3.53 SOG/GP and a 60.9 percent success rate on the faceoff dot.
As a sophomore in 2017-18, Russ led the team in goals (16) and points (24) in 34 games. In 135 games at Union between 2016 - 2020, the 5-4 forward was 33-23-56.
The Metropolitan Riveters have signed defender Jayne Lewis, who was the leading scorer at Sacred Heart in 2019-20 with 22 goals and 13 assists for 35 points in 32 games. Lewis also led Sacred Heart with eight game-winning goals and an average of 4.72 SOG/GP.
She helped lead the Pioneers to a NEWHA championship in her sophomore season in 2017-18 and was All-NEWHA in her junior season in 2018-19. Lewis finished her collegiate career tied with Taylor Moreland as the program's all-time leading scorer with 139 points in 126 games.
The Riveters have also signed Haley Frade for the remainder of the 2019-20 season. Frade made her NWHL debut for the Riveters on a PTO against the Boston Pride on Feb. 23.
She scored at least 25 points in each of her final three seasons at Providence and led the team in assists (16) and power play scoring (9) in her senior season in 2014-15. Frade led the Friars in scoring (25) and earned the Hockey East Sportsmanship Award in her junior season in 2013-14. She finished her collegiate career with 33 goals and 60 assists in 143 games.
