Connecticut Whale News Release

BROOKLYN - After signing their top goaltender in Brooke Wolejko, the Connecticut Whale now have one of their most valuable forwards under contract for the 2020-21 NWHL season. Emma Vlasic, who as a rookie last season played in the NWHL All-Star Game, led the Whale in goals, and was dominant in the faceoff circle, has re-signed with the Whale.

"My first season with the Connecticut Whale was a great experience and I'm already looking forward to getting back on the ice with my teammates and getting ready for another fantastic NWHL season," said Vlasic. "The Whale have what it takes to compete among the best in the league and I'm excited to pursue an Isobel Cup championship with my team. I'm very proud to be set for another season in Connecticut."

In 2019-20, Vlasic led the Whale with nine goals and 67 shots on goal, and also had three assists in the postseason as Connecticut defeated Buffalo in the Isobel Cup Play-In game and pushed the Boston Pride in an exciting semifinal. She was also a force on faceoffs with a 57.95 winning percentage - third in the league behind Boston's Jillian Dempsey and Lexie Laing.

An Illinois native, Vlasic joined the Whale a year ago after a strong collegiate career at Yale. She recorded 46 points (23-23-46) in 114 games for the Bulldogs and served as captain of the team her senior year. Prior to college, Vlasic was captain of the Chicago Young Americans, helping lead the team to back-to-back state championships.

In addition to playing in the NWHL, Vlasic works for Hedgeye Risk Management, an investment research firm based in Stamford.
