Connecticut Whale News Release
(Brooklyn, N.Y.) - The Premier Hockey Federation today announced that forward Kennedy Marchment of the Connecticut Whale is the PHF Player of the Month for March, scoring four goals and 10 assists for 14 points in six games with a plus-minus rating of plus-13.
Marchment won the 2021-22 PHF scoring title on the final game of the regular season, setting a Whale single game record with four assists Mar. 20 in a 5-0 victory over Toronto. It was just the seventh four-point performance in franchise history, joining the likes of Kaleigh Fratkin, Michaela Long, Kelli Stack, Haley Skarupa who achieved the feat twice, and current teammate Emma Vlasic who had a four-point game of her own last season. Marchment's milestone marked an eight-game scoring-streak and her 10th multi-point effort of the season and sixth in seven games. The All-Star was instrumental in helping Connecticut secure their first regular season crown with a franchise record of 15 wins that included 12 consecutive. Marchment contributed to 54% of the team's scoring over six games this month including five points in a weekend sweep over Minnesota and four points in a pair of wins against Buffalo.
The 25-year-old from Courtice, Ontario finished her first PHF season with 33 points in 20 games, scoring 13 goals and 20 assists. The St. Lawrence University graduate is the first Connecticut player to ever lead the PHF in scoring and is now the franchise's single season record holder for goals, assists, and points.
Also considered for the March award were Marchment's Whale teammates Amanda Conway and Taylor Girard who each had nine points in six games. Connecticut also had the top scoring defender of the month in Allie Munroe with six points in six games, and goaltender Mariah Fujimagari led her position by winning all three of her starts including back-to-back shutouts and a save percentage of .980.
